Our History
Since our founding over four decades ago, Generator Source has grown to become the country’s largest buyer and seller of commercial generators, with branches and service teams ready to deliver power solutions nationwide.
Founded
Founded by Ed as a small engine rebuild shop, specializing in Detroit diesel engines and expanding to brands like Caterpillar and Cummins.
Expansion
Expanded into a 10,000-square-foot facility, incorporating more technicians to support growth.
Shift to Generators
Shifted focus to buying and selling generators due to successful initial sales, establishing a strong online presence through early adoption of the internet.
Transition
Fully transitioned to engine and generator sales, moving away from service work due to unreliable payments.
Private Equity Sale
Sold to a private equity firm. Following a decline, the company was bought back through liquidation in 2011, returning focus to core generator sales.
Field Service Launch
Launched a field service division in response to customer demand, expanding revenue streams.
Growth
Majority equity sold to a Texas-based group, which aligned with significant revenue growth from 2020 to 2024.
Florida Expansion
Acquired a small service company in Jacksonville, Florida, expanding operations and boosting monthly revenue significantly.
New Facilities
Established new facilities in Texas and other locations to strengthen market presence through greenfield expansions.
Expansion Goals
Operates in four states with field service capabilities at each location, aspiring to become the largest U.S. and potentially global reseller of generators.
