Tech Talk Tuesday: Winter Generator Prep Tips

Before the cold weather hits, run through this quick checklist for your generator: ✅ Coolant rated for low temps? ✅ Block heater working? ✅ Battery charger operational?

Check Coolant: Ensure your coolant is rated for the upcoming low temperatures [00:05].
Check Block Heater: Verify the block heater is working correctly so the generator can start easily in the cold [00:11].
Check Battery System: Make sure the battery charger is operational [00:17] and that all battery connections, including those at the starters, are tight and secure [00:23].
Check Air Filters: Ensure the air filters are clean [00:31].
Grease Bearings: If your gen-end has a greasable bearing, make sure to grease it using the correct type of grease [00:37].
Check Electrical Leads: Confirm that the leads at the breaker and within the gen-end are tight [00:42].
Perform Regular Maintenance: Change the oil and fuel filters every 250 hours [00:47].
Test the Unit: It is recommended to have the unit load bank tested every six months [00:54].
